When you’re starting a new chapter it’s important to release the old, crucial actually.
The thing about being visionaries and entrepreneurs is we’re consistently saying “Yes” to the NEW. We are being called OUT again and again to move beyond our comfort zone. To do and try things that we’ve never done before. We are being put in a state of ‘discomfort’ on a regular basis.
Entrepreneurship requires us to meet new people, to learn to sell our services, to put ourselves into the role that most Americans rank as their biggest fear… to speak in public. It doesn’t matter if you’re standing up at a networking event to introduce yourself or looking at stages of 100 or 1000, you are putting yourself “out there”, in that place where others can judge or criticize, or be jealous of you.
Who will you have to become to be that successful coach, healer, consultant, author, artist or visionary? And what will you have to let go of in order to tranform into her (or him)?
I took myself on a solo camping trip last weekend even thought it was s-c-a-r-y!! It felt like the right thing to do to instill in myself a quiet, intimate and personal “PAUSE” between chapters. I laid myself down on the earth and let go… I gave my pain back. The earth can hold it ALL. And when I did, when I REALLY did, I felt a rush of familiar self-love, of relief… the “I’m not doing it alone” awareness.
What I found is that when we allow ourselves to release that which we may be clinging to out of old patterns of comfort or habit, we open up a sacred space in the channel of our being for the Universe to come in and show us just how safe we are.
And, if you’re being called to give your gifts on the planet at this crucial time… you can either fight against the current or allow yourself to flow downstream. And like Richard Bach says regarding the one who ALLOWS the current to take her…
“Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I can trust that the current knows where it is going.
I shall let go, and let it take me where it will, Clinging, I shall die of boredom. ‘The others’ laughed and said “Fool!” Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!
But, the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled by the current and momentarily smashed across the rocks. Yet as she refused to cling again, the current lifted her free from the bottom, and she was bruised and hurt no more. And those downstream to whom she was a stranger cried, “See a miracle – she flies!” …
And the one carried in the current said… “The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”

I’m releasing my marriage… As the song goes… “Sometimes you’re closer when you’re letting go…”… I love my wife now more than I ever did during the marriage… but then time has come for this divorce to happen…
Sage – Thank you for your beautiful video. I’m inspired to get out there in nature myself and learn how to take care of me!
And, I am ready to release doing things because the old habit says I have to and they will keep me safe, when actually they are not things I want to spend my time on!
What a great reminder – thank you for sharing from your experience, and from you heart. You touched me, and gave me food for thought about my own transition.
I release the need to know – any details about the future except that I am moving into it, acting on inspired impulses, resting when needed, excited about the unknown. Thanks for sharing your way of letting go to make way for the new and dormant.
Today I release my need to “be in control” – I release the fear that needs to believe it must be in charge. Thank you for a wonderful post and video.
As I move into the “empty nest” time of my life, I am releasing my mothering of others and beginning to mother myself so that I can become whatever it is I now need to be.
Thank you Sage for your inspired message. I am launching my life coaching business and have committed to a new chapter in my life. I am stepping up to who I will become and do feel a calling to help many people. Thank you for what you do. God Bless You!
I am just about to launch a mentoring program, the result of letting go of many fears. One more fear I am letting go of the idea that “I am not good enough”. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Sage,
I love your blog and video! I love that you’re talking in bits and pieces here and there about your name change. I fell in love with you (and your work) as Laura Rice, so I experienced a disconnect for awhile with the change. I knew Laura, but who was Sage?
I just got back from Kris Ward the Abundant Yogi’s Secret Sauce mastermind group retreat, and it was so nice to let go of so much old crap….old stories and insecurities based off old stories.
I can relate to what you are saying about a new chapter and being called to really shine to the world with your message.
I too, love who I am becoming as I step into my own truths and embrace me.
